I’ve had the pleasure of coordinating weddings in some pretty amazing spots across Ontario, but this is definitely one of the best venue finds I’ve worked in yet. The bonus – it’s an Airbnb!
The first time I ever used Airbnb I was so skeptical, but the more I use it, the more I fall in love with it. We’ve stayed close to home with it, Toronto but also across the world, Switzerland. Now – it’s going to be an even bigger part of my business life – a venue locator!
In June, I got to be apart of T&H’s special day – which brought me out to the country to what I thought was just going to be a tent wedding on private property. Boy was I wrong. Turns out, this property was more than just a piece of land. A gorgeous cottage farmhouse complete with a pond, beautiful landscaping, a rustic barn that could hold a wedding (we didn’t use it), an orchard, and tons of space.
When I met the couple for the site visit I asked how they found the place. T said to me: I just looked up Airbnb’s. I was shocked. ‘You what?’
Yes, the cute little cottage is an airbnb – a little getaway in the country. However, T envisioned it differently, she booked the cottage for the weekend, rented a tent to put in the field, invited 100 of their closest friends and family, and decided to get married during the summer solstice. Pure genius.
We set up Friday in the pouring rain, it rained all day Saturday. Luckily we had a gorgeous tent from Guelph Tent’s, and a back up ceremony tent as the couple originally was going to get married during the sun set – outside. I told the couple it wouldn’t rain – but it did – all day – until just before their ceremony when the sun decided to come out. It was magic. Their day was perfect.
They did sunset photos in the orchard, we ate dinner under the stars, the couple cut their cake under a twinkling tree.
I am so blessed and grateful to have been part of such an amazing day. I wish T&H a lifetime of love and happiness.
**I found out later, the space can be rented for weddings – provided you want to use the barn. I have no affiliation with Airbnb – I just wanted to share this creative wedding idea
